Emotion Regulators provides virtual once weekly 90 minute Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) skills training groups. DBT is an active and assertive form of therapy designed to make changes in your current day to day experiences. You will receive emotional support and coaching as you identify unsatisfactory behavioral patterns and make the changes you want in your life. With DBT skills, you will learn how to:

  • Be in the present moment instead of lost in the regret of past actions and decisions. Stop wasting your energy worrying about the future.

  • Distract from – and change – your relationship to stressful situations and overwhelming emotions.

  • Identify what you are feeling and manage the intensity and duration.

  • Increase your confidence; ask for what you want; and add more satisfaction in your relationships.

What to expect

WHAT TO EXPECT

You will be encouraged and supported
as you step up to the challenge.

DBT Skills Training with Emotion Regulators differs from other types of therapy. Expect a virtual therapy group that feels more like a college class experience. You’ll want note-taking materials, a steady internet connection, and a private space from which to participate. I don’t just teach DBT skills – I also actively practice the skills myself.

You won’t be treated as a patient or a person with incapability. I demonstrate tough love and transparency. Consider me more of a personal trainer; I can’t do the work for you but I will encourage and support you as you step up to the challenge. I also accept with compassion and allow you grace when you just don’t feel up to doing the work. You will learn tools for overcoming barriers in a supportive environment that will help you to build mastery.

Individual weekly therapy is mandatory for admittance to a group. I encourage group members to remain with their current individual providers with whom I will coordinate care to offer the most effective wraparound services available. I am also able to provide resources for individual therapists if you are looking to establish care.
